Connecting Your Custom Email to Kenzi

To receive emails at your custom domain (e.g., hello@yourcompany.com) directly inside your Kenzi workspace, you need to set up an email forwarder or a distribution group that routes incoming messages to your unique Kenzi address: {workspace.handle}@kenzi.space.

Below are the instructions for configuring this across major email providers.

The most reliable and cost-effective way to route email in Google Workspace without paying for an additional user license is to use a Google Group.

  1. Log in to your Google Admin console (admin.google.com) using an administrator account.
  2. Navigate to Directory > Groups in the left-hand menu.
  3. Click Create group at the top of the page.
  4. Enter your desired custom email address in the Group email field (e.g., support@yourdomain.com).
  5. Click Next until you reach the Access settings section.
  6. Set the Access type to Custom.
  7. In the Who can post row, explicitly check the External box. This step is mandatory to allow outside senders to reach your Kenzi workspace.
  8. Click Create group.
  9. Once the group is created, click the group name to open its details, then click Add members.
  10. Enter your {workspace.handle}@kenzi.space address, ensure “Directly add members” is toggled on, and click Add to group.

To route emails in Microsoft 365, you will need to create an external Mail Contact and attach it to a Distribution Group. You must also ensure your tenant’s security policies permit external forwarding.

  1. Log in to the Exchange admin center.
  2. Navigate to Recipients > Contacts and click Add a mail contact.
  3. Fill in the display name and set the External email address to your {workspace.handle}@kenzi.space address, then click Create.
  4. Navigate to Recipients > Groups and click Add a group.
  5. Select Distribution as the group type and click Next.
  6. Name your group with your desired custom email address (e.g., hello@yourdomain.com).
  7. In the Edit settings section, check the box for Allow people outside of my organization to send email to this Distribution group.
  8. Finish creating the group, open it, and navigate to the Members tab.
  9. Click View all and manage members, then add the Kenzi Mail Contact you created in step 3.
  10. Finally, open the Microsoft Defender portal and navigate to Email & collaboration > Policies & rules > Threat policies > Anti-spam. Edit your Anti-spam outbound policy and ensure Automatic forwarding rules is set to On (Forwarding is enabled), otherwise Microsoft will silently drop the routed emails.

If you use a standard web host or an alternative email provider, the process generally involves setting up a basic email forwarder.

  1. Log in to your web hosting control panel or email admin dashboard.
  2. Locate the Email Forwarders, Email Routing, or Aliases section.
  3. Click Add Forwarder or Create Alias.
  4. Enter your desired custom address prefix (e.g., contact).
  5. In the Destination or Forward to field, enter your {workspace.handle}@kenzi.space address.
  6. Save your changes and send a test email to your custom address to verify it successfully arrives in Kenzi.
